This site aims to generate content about the initiatives and all other relevant information regarding the planning, development and implementing of tasks as set by the national- and provincial government as well as the private sector for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. We aim to document all developments in communities and cities and the impact this will be having on the environment, economy and the people of South Africa.

The 2010 Soccer World Cup presents an opportunity to create a sustainable environment for South Africa and its communities. The aim is to reinforce the role of environmental living within the context of the 2010 Soccer World Cup and the country’s economic and social development programme.

Indalo Yethu, the independent trust of the South African Government’s Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, has therefore embarked on an endeavour with its electronic media partner, alive2green by launching this website and its associated newsletter. The content is based on the  2010 Soccer World Cup and its sustainability where its infrastructure development, employment, regional and economic investment and the efficient use of resources are concerned. It is aimed at the distribution sectors such as the national, provincial and local government managers, key NGO’s and large construction companies.

The newsletter and website form the platform for these key decisionmakers and stakeholders to interact and be informed on issues such as energy and power solutions, waste and recycling, skills development, transport, tourism, investment and growth. Recipients receive interesting and educational content on a monthly basis to educate and broaden their awareness of medium and longterm benefits associated with the environmental sustainability of the monumental soccer event.
